Founded 400 years ago by a hereditary Dharmakartha family, Sri Kshetra Horanadu stayed hidden until the efforts of the fifth Dharmakartha, Sri D.B. Venkatasubba Jois revived it. The moola virat was re-established in 1973 on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Architecturally, the main temple is reached by climbing a flight of steps illustrated with godly sculptures. The main mantapa, situated on the left-hand side of the temple entrance, features detailed carvings on its ceilings. Adi Sesha surrounds the main sanctum, and the Padma Peeta showcases Koorma, Ashtagaja, and other divine elements.
