Raghupur Fort History

Raghupur Fort stands as a testament to history, believed to have been constructed by Mandi rulers as a defense against invasions. The journey to reach Raghupur Fort involves a 3-kilometer ascent from Jalori Pass, weaving through enchanting oak and rhododendron forests. The trail is adorned with vibrant greenery, surrounded by the majestic Himalayas.

Raghupur Fort trek, spanning approximately two hours from Jalori Pass, led you to the pinnacle of Raghupur Fort. Although only remnants remain, the summit rewards with breathtaking view of the encompassing valleys. As fog gracefully enveloped the landscape, the descent through the misty jungle took another hour, creating a heavenly experience. The climb was steep and vertical, imbued with excitement and thrill.

How to reach Raghupur Fort

Upon reaching the fort, however, a serene and calming view awaited, prompting a complete detachment from worldly concerns. The hike from Sojha to this picturesque mountain meadow is truly exceptional, offering a 360-degree panorama and, on clear days, glimpses of snow-capped peaks. Regardless of the weather, it proves to be an amazing location for capturing photos that transcend the ordinary. It’s easy to lose oneself in the embrace of nature, as time seemingly slips away.

Raghupur Fort Trek Itinerary & Distance

Day 1: Aut to Sajwar Basecamp (Approx. 9500 feet)

First you have to reach Aut to Sajwar. There you can find several basecamps or you can set up your on camp, situated at approximately 9500 feet in Sajwar village, Tirthan Valley. The campsite offers panoramic views of Jaloda Forest and Kansar Forest. Take a moment to rest upon arrival. In the evening, embark on a short trek in Jaloda Forest for acclimatization. Overnight stay at the this campsite.

Day 2: Sajwar Basecamp to Shoja (Approx 10,300 feet)

Wake up early, freshen up, and enjoy your breakfast. Afterward, start your journey to Shoja. The trail winds through a dense high-mountain forest. The pristine environment of Himachal, coupled with pure air and water, ensures a fatigue-free trek, and the destination seems to approach effortlessly. Same as pervious day have to do overnight stay at the campsite in Shoja.

Day 3: Shoja to Raghupur Fort

Early morning, wake up, freshen up, and have breakfast. Post breakfast, proceed to Raghupur Fort via Jalori Pass, situated at an elevation of 10,800 feet above sea level. Along the way, marvel at the almost 360-degree views of the Himalayas, Dhauladhar, and Kinnaur ranges. Near Jalori Pass, you can visit to Kali Mata temple. Afterward, continue the journey towards Raghupur Fort. Overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 4: Raghupur Fort to Serolsar Lake

After breakfast, proceed to Serolsar Lake, a serene body of water surrounded by hills and tall pine trees. The lake, expansive as a football ground, is home to the temple of Goddess ‘BUDHI NAGIN’ Mata, the revered mother of 60 Nag Devatas in Himachal Pradesh. you can enjoy your stay in the campsite or you can start back your journey towards Sajwar Basecamp.

Day 5: Serolsar Lake to Sajwar Basecamp

Wake up early, freshen up, and have breakfast before setting out for Sajwar Basecamp. The camp distance is not considerable, allowing for a swift arrival. Along the way, encounter large caves naturally formed in massive stones. These captivating caves, known locally as DWAR, are irresistible, inviting you to spend a few moments exploring their allure.

Jibhi to Jalori Pass, Serolsar Lake, Raghupur Fort Trek & Distance :-

You have to depart early from Jibhi, taking a taxi to cover the 12 km distance to Jalori Pass. The journey will take at least an hour due to the uphill drive. Once at Jalori Pass, you will commence the trek to the Sereulsar Lake camp located by the lake. This one day whole journey will take atleast 5 hours.

From Sereulsar Lake, a straightforward path winds through dense oak forests leading to Raghupur. The trail includes gradual uphill and downhill sections, offering picturesque views along the way. Upon reaching the summit of the fort (old ruins), you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic 360-degree view of the entire Kullu and Mandi region. The journey from the fort to the Lagishar camp is another hour and a half of easy trekking. The second day journey will take atleast 6 hours.
